1 tsp smoked paprika
1 oz dark chocolate (70%+) — the secret
1 cup beef broth

Brown beef over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat, leaving about 1 tbsp.

Add onion and bell pepper to beef. Cook 5 minutes until softened.

Add garlic, chili powder, cumin, paprika. Stir 1 minute until fragrant — this blooms the spices.

Add tomato paste and stir 2 minutes. This step adds a roasted depth that shortcuts don't get.

Add tomatoes, beans, broth. Bring to boil, then simmer uncovered 30 minutes.

Add dark chocolate in last 5 minutes — it deepens the flavor without tasting like chocolate.
